The Primary Axis organizes data along a chart’s X-axis and labels each group. It can group data by category, such as asset class, rating, or allocation, or by time interval, such as year, quarter, or month.
Available options:

<None> — Leaves data ungrouped. Use this option for summary data point charts that show secondary-axis values directly, such as Net Flows, Capital Appreciation, and Income.

The primary axis supports:

A maximum of two grouping levels.

Only historical single-period data. It does not support multi-period comparisons. When you use date intervals, the chart treats them as either continuous intervals or category groupings.
